Cyclists pedal to a record-breaking $12.5M for Alberta cancer care
Cyclists are pedaling toward a record-breaking $12.5 million for Alberta cancer care through the 2026 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer, anchored in Strathmore. The event begins this weekend and follows personal stories shared by participants including Heidi Panych, who received a breast cancer diagnosis by the end of July 2025 and has since completed months of intensive chemotherapy. More than 2,300 cyclists are riding either 65 or 100 kilometers a day from the Strathmore Stampede Grounds over two days. The Tour raised $12.5 million, which the Alberta Cancer Foundation says will be invested in leading-edge research, clinical trials, and patient support across the province’s 17 cancer centres. Enbridge, title sponsor since 2010, has pushed Team Enbridge’s fundraising to over $10 million since it began. The 2026 launch also reflects a large community-driven campaign in Alberta.
