Director Michael Mann accidentally shoots himself in leg at Los Angeles gun range
Film director Michael Mann accidentally shot himself in the leg Saturday while holstering a handgun at a members-only indoor range in West Los Angeles, according to law enforcement sources cited by ABC News. The incident occurred Oct. 31, when Mann was holstering a .45-caliber handgun and it discharged, striking his left thigh, sources said. Mann’s publicist told ABC News that he suffered a superficial injury, was treated, and was being released. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of shots fired around 4 p.m. local time in the 11100 block of Missouri Avenue, and officers determined it was accidental and not life-threatening. Range staff provided medical aid before paramedics transported him to a local hospital in stable condition. The LAPD confirmed the accident in a statement and noted an injury report was completed. Mann is known for directing Heat, Collateral, and Ferrari.
