Dudley boy Jaxon, 5, praised for calling 999 for injured mum

A five-year-old boy, Jaxon, from Dudley, has been praised after calling 999 when his mother was seriously injured at home. When his mum, Stacey, fell down the stairs, hit her head and became unconscious, Jaxon knew to seek emergency help. Officers arrived and gave first aid after climbing over a back gate while paramedics were on the way. After waking, Stacey had started vomiting and had slurred speech, and Jaxon was able to provide his address to responders. West Midlands Police later awarded him a chief constable’s young person’s award for his courage and bravery, presented by Chief Constable Jen Mattinson at an awards evening in early July. He also received a bike from the Stourbridge Neighbourhood Team as a surprise.
