Hayden Panettiere’s death has drawn attention to how overdose risk can spike after a person stops and later resumes drug use, according to an AP report summarizing a coroner’s account. The 36-year-old was found unresponsive in an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina, on Aug. 16. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said multiple substances were found, including fentanyl and its chemical byproduct, alprazolam, a muscle relaxer, and a medication for major depression and other mental health disorders. The case notes she had been in rehab in Malibu, California, weeks earlier. Experts cited reduced tolerance after sobriety as a key danger.
