HMC opens General Hospital to support intravenous treatment needs of cancer patients
Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has opened a specialized clinic at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) to support cancer patients who need repeated intravenous treatments. The clinic offers specialized assessment to choose the most appropriate care method for each patient’s condition and treatment plan. It brings together oncology and vascular surgery teams from the National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) and the Vascular Surgery Department at HGH, aiming to create a complete view of venous-access needs and to coordinate planning and follow-up throughout treatment. HMC leadership said the service addresses difficulties some patients face establishing and maintaining suitable venous access, particularly when sessions are frequent and follow-up is long.
