Obituary: John "Jack" Tyler Kidder III

John “Jack” Tyler Kidder III, of Saco, Maine, died Oct. 3, 2026, at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. Born March 6, 1944, in Rumford, he grew up in Rangeley, attended Fryeburg Academy, and later earned a business administration degree from Husson College in 1966. Kidder built a long career as an independent insurance adjuster, joining GAB in 1967 but declining a move to New Jersey to stay in Maine. In 1974, he founded Colonial Adjustment Inc. and led the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters as president from 2009 to 2010. He retired in 2014, with his son Scott succeeding him.
