Hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash in Back of the Yards

Chicago police said a driver disregarded a red light and caused a multi-vehicle crash in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Sunday morning, leaving eight people hospitalized. The crash was reported just after midnight in the 5400 block of South Ashland Avenue. Authorities said the driver of a Dodge SUV was traveling northbound when they ran the red light and struck two other vehicles at the intersection. Police reported that all six occupants of the SUV were taken to area hospitals in fair condition. A Chevrolet truck was also hit, and its two occupants were taken to hospitals in serious condition. A third vehicle, a Ford sedan, was involved as well; its driver refused medical treatment at the scene. No further details were immediately available.
