Interim Real-World Results Show At-Home Subcutaneous Furosemide Can Effectively Treat Worsening Heart Failure in Patients at Imminent Risk for Hospital Admission

SQ Innovation announced interim “real-world” results from the Gator SCALES-WHF study of Lasix® ONYU, a subcutaneous furosemide option for people with heart failure-associated edema who are at imminent risk of hospital admission. Presented Oct. 11 at the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) Annual Scientific Meeting 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona, the study enrolled 21 adults at home the day of presentation. The company reported that 86% were successfully decongested without hospitalization, while three patients were admitted within 30 days for additional treatment. The open-label, single-arm study runs at the University of Florida in Gainesville and is sponsored by UF, led by principal investigator Mustafa M. Ahmed, MD. Participants self-administered Lasix ONYU at home, with follow-up for 30 days.
