Iran indicates it's received an official US response to its latest offer on ending the war
Iranian officials say they have received an official U.S. response to Tehran’s latest proposal aimed at ending a seven-month war, days after President Donald Trump rejected a similar offer. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented the U.S. response to President Masoud Pezeshkian during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, according to spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani. Officials did not disclose whether the response rejected the proposal or what it contained. The update followed Araghchi’s return from New York for the U.N. General Assembly, where he held indirect talks and discussed Iran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz—linked to lifting a U.S. blockade on Iranian ports and releasing frozen assets, among others. Separately, the U.S. Treasury announced new sanctions under “Operation Economic Outcast,” targeting people and entities in Iran, Hong Kong and Pakistan tied to Iran’s military supply chain.
