Lindsay Clancy jury deadlocked entering 5th day of deliberations after person arrested at court

Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial were sent back for a fifth day of deliberations on Wednesday after a deadlock note was delivered to Judge William Sullivan on Tuesday. The previous public sign of the jury’s thinking came when the panel returned after about an hour to tell the judge that it still lacked a unanimous decision. Under Massachusetts law, a judge can ask a jury to continue deliberating only twice unless the jury agrees to more time; if they remain deadlocked, the judge can declare a mistrial. After Tuesday’s court session ended around 3:30 p.m., Dawn Light, 56, of Sutton, Massachusetts, was arrested outside the courthouse and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on a charge of intimidation of a witness, juror, or person furnishing information. The jury must decide whether Clancy is criminally responsible for killing her three children on Jan. 24, 2023: Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months. Prosecutors seek first-degree murder, while the defense argues she acted under auditory hallucinations linked to postpartum psychosis.
