Louisiana becomes latest state to launch Fauci investigation following explosive Senate hearing

Louisiana announced it will investigate Dr. Anthony Fauci, following an explosive Senate hearing in which the former top U.S. health official invoked the Fifth Amendment 111 times to avoid self-incrimination. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said Saturday her office is acting after her review identified newly discovered contemporaneous records and she claimed Fauci “lied” during a prior deposition. She also said a federal pardon from President Joe Biden would not necessarily prevent state prosecution. The announcement comes after similar actions by Florida’s Attorney General Ashley Moody (reported as James Uthmeier in the text) and Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville said a presidential pardon only applies to offenses against the United States. Fauci’s lawyer was not immediately available for comment.
