Medical art: Former military doctor finds 'artistic' freedom in plastic surgery

Lt. Col. Dr. Brandon Specht, a former U.S. Air Force doctor and Carmel-based plastic surgeon, describes plastic surgery as a field that blends technique with artistic expression. Speaking about his background, Specht said he first learned the possibilities during a three-year residency at the Cleveland Clinic, then continued through five years of general surgery training at Kettering Health Dayton after studying at Indiana University and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He added medical education at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base hospital, noting that Air Force surgeries were methodical, while plastic surgery allows work with varied tissues and an aesthetic focus. His practice includes facial rejuvenation, facelifts, rhinoplasty, breast surgery and body contouring.
