Medical Plane Goes Missing on Flight From Bermuda to Boston
xCruzo Brief
A medical transfer aircraft, a Gulfstream G100 carrying six people, lost contact around 2 a.m. while flying from Bermuda toward Boston, officials said. The U.S. Coast Guard launched a search Saturday off the coast of Nantucket using planes, a helicopter, and boats. The Federal Aviation Administration notified the Coast Guard after contact was lost. The jet is operated by Latitude Air Ambulance, according to Clarence Togeretz, a spokesman for the company. Latitude provides medical evacuation and repatriation services, and its G100s are typically staffed with a nurse and respiratory therapist, with some flights also including a physician. It remains unclear whether anyone on board was a patient.
