Mitch McConnell Shares New Health Update 6 Weeks After Hospitalization

Six weeks after being hospitalized, Sen. Mitch McConnell provided another health update Monday. The 84-year-old Republican said in a statement that he is still working to return to his full Senate schedule in Kentucky while undergoing “intense physical therapy.” He also said he will not attend the Fancy Farm picnic in his home state, scheduled for the first Saturday in August. McConnell’s office shared additional details from the Congress’ Office of the Attending Physician, which said physicians visit him daily and that since discharge he has had strenuous therapy, including multiple sessions per day to rebuild strength and lower the risk of future falls. He is not yet cleared to leave the rehab facility.
