NBC news helicopter crashes and kills at least 3 in LA neighborhood

A local NBC news helicopter crashed in the Chatsworth neighborhood of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley on Tuesday, killing at least three people and bursting into flames, officials said. The crash occurred just before 7 p.m., as the station’s reporters were covering a separate SUV collision with a city bus. NBC4 Los Angeles anchor Colleen Williams confirmed the helicopter went down during a live broadcast, after which the feed abruptly stopped. Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Branden Silverman said at least one victim was outside in a parking lot; it was unclear whether the other two were on the ground or aboard. One person was taken to the hospital. Firefighters battled flames involving cars and storage containers. The NTSB and FAA will investigate.
