Nearly 40,000 bottles of eye drops recalled nationwide over possible contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says nearly 40,000 bottles of eye drops are being voluntarily recalled nationwide due to potential sterility contamination. Prestige Brand Holdings, based in Tarrytown, New York, is recalling 39,060 bottles of Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief eye drops after an FDA enforcement report cited a “lack of assurance of sterility.” The affected product is in 15-milliliter bottles with lot code 2552A and an expiration date of Sep. 30, 2027. Distribution was handled by Medtech Products Inc., a Prestige Consumer Healthcare company. The FDA classifies this as a Class II recall, meaning use or exposure may cause temporary or medically reversible effects.
