A crash in Columbus, Ohio, killed an Ohio State University student and injured two others after a driver ran a red light, according to local reporting. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Sarosh Sheth, a neuroscience major from Warren, Ohio, died following the collision Wednesday afternoon. The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. in the 1300 block of North High Street. A Columbus spokesperson, Sgt. Joe Albert, told WBNS that the driver of a Ford Mustang was traveling at a high rate of speed on East 7th Avenue and ran a red light on North High Street before striking two pedestrians on the sidewalk. The Mustang hit a parked car in the Kroger parking lot and stopped. Sheth was taken to Wexner Medical Center in critical condition and pronounced dead; both other pedestrians were also transported in critical condition, while the driver of the parked car was stable. The driver remained at the scene, was taken into custody, and has been charged with driving under the influence, with Albert citing possible alcohol and narcotics involvement.
