Police probe ANFA officials over alleged match-fixing and financial irregularities

Nepal’s All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has come under investigation after Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau opened a probe into alleged match-fixing and financial irregularities. Investigators arrested ANFA treasurer Rabindra Joshi and accounts officer Sanjiv Pandey following a preliminary inquiry, with other association officials also being examined. Police say a Lalitpur District Court allowed both men to remain in custody for four days. The scrutiny comes while ANFA remains under an indefinite FIFA suspension linked to alleged third-party interference, which has barred Nepal’s national teams and clubs from international competitions and cut funding from FIFA and AFC programs. The probe includes allegations that home-and-away qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup were both played in Bahrain.
