Popular blood pressure drug recalled over dissolution issues

Inventia Healthcare Limited is voluntarily recalling 13,567 bottles of Chlorthalidone Tablets, USP, 25 mg (NDC: 64980-599-01, Batch No. RISA24002, expiration date April 2027) due to failure in dissolution testing, which assesses how the drug dissolves in the body. The recall follows a prior incident this year: on June 5, the company recalled 11,460 bottles in both 100-tablet and 1,000-tablet sizes of the same medication. The FDA classified both recalls as Class II, indicating use or exposure may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, with serious outcomes considered remote. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic used to help lower blood pressure. The FDA says consumers generally can continue taking it unless instructed otherwise, and users should check lot numbers and contact a provider before stopping.
