Raw plant-based diet linked to sperm reappearance in men with azoospermia
Three men with azoospermia—complete absence of sperm in semen—began producing measurable sperm about ten weeks after starting an intensive lifestyle program built around a predominantly raw, whole-food plant-based diet, according to a case series in Frontiers in Urology. The report does not prove the program restored fertility, but the timing was consistent across the three participants, including severe diagnoses. Azoospermia affects about 1% of all men and 10% to 15% of men seeking fertility care, and is split into obstructive and non-obstructive types. The protocol included minimum daily vegetable targets (454 grams), flaxseed or chia, limited fruit, exclusion of animal foods, and added activity, sleep, stress management, and individualized micronutrient supplementation.
