Recall alert: 13K bottles of blood pressure medication recalled

The FDA announced a recall affecting more than 13,500 bottles of chlorthalidone tablets, a blood pressure medicine made by Inventia Healthcare Limited. The agency said the tablets failed dissolution specifications. The recall was first issued Sept. 3 and upgraded to a Class II recall on Sept. 17. The medication is 25 mg and was distributed nationwide in 100-count bottles with NDC 64980-599-01. Batch number RISA24002 and expiration date 04/2027 were listed. The FDA noted that Class II recalls may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse effects, with serious harm considered unlikely. This issue has occurred before with chlorthalidone.
