Sam Neill's ex-partner sheds light on Jurassic Park star's cause of death
Sam Neill’s death has drawn new context as his ex-partner, Australian journalist Laura Tingle, discussed what she says led to the actor’s final days. Neill, 78, died on Monday, 13 July, after being “pretty sick” for the prior fortnight. Tingle said he had been diagnosed in 2022 with a rare blood cancer, specifically stage-three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, and although he was cancer-free at the time of death, the illness and treatment left his immune system “pretty compromised.” She described intensive chemotherapy and immunotherapy over at least five years. New Zealand Herald co-star Rima Te Wiata said Neill caught pneumonia. The family previously asked for privacy. Tributes included Steven Spielberg, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Nicole Kidman. Neill is set to appear in 2027 films Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and The Last Resort.
