Spain tragedy as Morocco fan dies
A World Cup celebration in southern Spain ended in tragedy after a Moroccan fan died in a freak accident while observing the national team’s 3-0 win over Canada. The incident occurred late Saturday night in Algeciras, Cádiz, after Morocco secured a place in the quarter-finals. Spanish media reports said the 39-year-old was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her husband through the San García neighborhood when a Moroccan flag she was wearing became caught in the motorcycle’s rear wheel. The sudden pull reportedly caused catastrophic injuries. Emergency services arrived after receiving reports, and paramedics found her in cardiac arrest, resuscitating her before transporting her to Punta Europa Hospital, where she later died. Spain’s National Police are investigating, with early indications pointing to no collision with another vehicle and the husband testing negative for alcohol. The mayor, José Ignacio Landaluce, expressed condolences.
