Sudan army drones hit mourners and fuel market killing more than 200 people, sources say
Sudan’s army has been accused of drone strikes that killed more than 200 people, including civilians traveling to a funeral, according to sources cited by the Sudan War Observatory. In West Kordofan state, the death toll from attacks on Sunday evening was put at 150. In Abyei, a disputed border area between Sudan and South Sudan, 73 people died after drones hit a market on Monday, according to the region’s information minister; a BBC source said the army carried out the strike, describing the market as a fuel supply site for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). South Sudan summoned Sudan’s ambassador to protest, warning of possible spillover. The UN said civilians, including children, were being killed and services disrupted, as hunger rose and famine risks increased.
