Survey: 58% of Americans have skipped or rationed meds in the past year

A survey commissioned by TelyRx found that medication access problems affect a majority of Americans managing ongoing prescriptions. Among more than 1,200 U.S. adults, 58% said they had run out of doses or rationed them to make supply last over the past year. The survey highlights financial, administrative and logistical barriers, including delays at pharmacies and insurance hurdles such as prior authorization. Of those who skipped or rationed medication, 36% reported it was out of stock or delayed, while 31% cited insurance-related roadblocks. More than half of respondents reported going without for up to a week. The risks can be severe: 19% said skipping could lead to hospitalization or death.
