Dr. Andrew K. Poznanski, a globally recognized pediatric radiologist and educator, died on June 8, 2026, at age 94. His career spanned more than five decades and focused on pediatric radiology, skeletal imaging, and diagnosing genetic disorders. Born in Poland on October 11, 1931, he fled Europe during World War II and later earned his medical degree in 1956 from McGill University in Montreal. After radiology training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, he joined the University of Michigan and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, later moving in 1979 to Children’s Memorial Hospital (now Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago) as Radiologist-in-Chief and Professor of Radiology at Northwestern University Medical School. Poznanski authored or co-authored more than 350 publications and wrote textbooks including works on radiologic diagnosis and bone dysplasias. The obituary also highlights his mentorship and his contributions to measurement-based imaging methods used in managing infants of diabetic mothers and other skeletal conditions.
