Trump asks SCOTUS to OK changes to mail-in ballots. And, diesel prices hit record high

In the Up First newsletter, the Trump administration asks the U.S. Supreme Court to lift a temporary restraining order blocking the U.S. Postal Service from implementing its plans to restrict mail-in voting. Trump issued an executive order in March directing the Department of Homeland Security to develop lists of adult U.S. citizens in each state and requiring USPS to refuse delivery of mail-in ballots if state officials don’t provide those lists. The court previously addressed a procedural issue related to one lawsuit; now the administration is seeking a ruling on legality. North Carolina begins mailing absentee ballots today, starting the midterm voting season.
