What's the Latest on 7-OH and Kratom Availability and Addiction Care?

Michigan shoppers who bought 7-OH—an increasingly common kratom-related product—may soon lose access. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has proposed a temporary national rescheduling that would restrict 7-OH and three related lab-made chemicals after a rise in poisonings, addiction cases, and overdose deaths since 7-OH products entered the U.S. market in late 2024. The proposal, prompted by those harms, would last two years and could be extended another year. A public comment period ended July 31, with action expected after review. Thresholds would allow only limited products below set amounts.
