Nixon credited her campaign’s success to “grassroots” organizing and issue-focused outreach across Florida, highlighting strong performances in Duval and Orange counties and Congressional District 24. She said she joined the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) over the summer but pushed back on the “socialist” label, emphasizing her view that hardworking people should shape communities and economies. Nixon also said she joined the Working Families Party and cited DSA priorities including access to quality healthcare, fully funded schools, housing, and support for veterans. The interview set the stage for the general election in November.
