A 70-year-old hiker, Craig Berg, was found alive but injured and hypothermic on Isle Royale, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. Berg had been missing in Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior since Sept. 5. With help from nearby backpackers, Michigan State Police troopers and K-9 units located him on the island. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City hoisted Berg from Isle Royale and transported him to Marquette Regional Airport in Gwinn, Michigan. Emergency medical services then took him to a local hospital. The rescue followed Coast Guard search efforts on Friday.
