Your 'high-strength' omega 3 supplement a rip-off? - Which?
xCruzo Brief
A Which? investigation found that some “high-strength” omega 3 supplements may deliver no more— and sometimes less—of the active ingredients than cheaper standard products. The consumer group analyzed 24 popular fish oil options, including major brands and retailer own-label products from Boots, Tesco and Superdrug. It found wide differences in EPA plus DHA amounts, with “high-strength” products ranging from 250mg to 1,764mg compared with 244mg to 660mg in standard-range supplements. The research also criticized front-of-pack claims that focus on total fish oil, which can obscure what buyers actually receive. Which? highlighted examples where pricing was higher despite identical EPA/DHA levels.
