Aston Villa sign Alejandro Garnacho on loan from Chelsea
Aston Villa has signed Alejandro Garnacho on a season-long loan from Chelsea, with a conditional obligation to buy that could become permanent if he reaches a specified appearance target during the 2026/27 campaign. The 22-year-old leaves Stamford Bridge just one year after completing his £40 million move from Manchester United. Across all competitions he made 43 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing four assists, but reportedly fell out of Argentina’s plans for the 2026 World Cup. His departure arrives shortly after Morgan Rogers moved from Villa to Chelsea in a deal reported at £117 million, leaving both clubs deeply involved in the summer transfer market. Aston Villa will now hope Garnacho provides a renewed spark at Villa Park under Unai Emery, who is looking to rediscover the form associated with his earlier Premier League promise.
