Bird species in just two weeks!

Stephen Hackett and his son Will completed an unforgettable two-week road trip around Britain from August 14 to August 29, visiting 35 RSPB nature reserves thanks to the Dacia Bucket List Fund. The medical student, 22, and his father had planned to go from Land’s End to John o’ Groats but chose to spend more time at each site. They spotted 163 bird species, including four they had never seen before and two new to them in Britain. Highlights included Loch Garten in the Cairngorms, Spey Bay in northern Scotland, Saltholme near Hartlepool and Campfield Marsh in Cumbria. The fund launched in 2026, offering up to £5,000 and six selected adventures.
