Heartbreak as missing Aussie hiker found dead in Peru

Jordan Yap, a 30-year-old Australian man from Melbourne, has been found dead in Peru after going missing during a solo trek in the Andes. His family confirmed the news on Saturday via social media, saying he did not survive following an almost three-week search. Yap had planned a 10-day hike along the remote Cordillera Huayhuash circuit and was due to finish on September 23. When he failed to collect his belongings from Krusty Hostel that day and missed a flight from Lima to Cusco the next day, relatives and friends raised the alarm and hired a private mountain rescue team. His best friend, Kevin Nguyen, said he had been preparing for the trip for nearly a year. The family thanked search teams, police, and government representatives.
