Blast from the Past: Schoolhouse to clubhouse for Unity Flying Club
Unity Flying Club is repurposing a former Thule schoolhouse yet again, turning it into a clubhouse for the group. The building, located about 14 miles north of Unity on Highway 21, previously served as an extra classroom at Unity Public School before being moved, renovated, and painted for its new role. The community piece also references Prairie West Community College offering classes in Wilkie, including driver training, Christian ethics, farm accounting, woodwork, hairdressing, and social dancing. A set of local classifieds included items like a 1972 Meteor with a 351 motor. Elsewhere in the “20 years ago” notes, the Unity Fall Fair and Trade Show drew 56 booths and more than 1,300 visitors, and 280 items were appraised by antique appraiser Vern Reese.
