Bloor reveals 450-home Widnes ambitions
Bloor Homes is proposing a 450-home development in Widnes, with at least 110 affordable units, on safeguarded land off Cronton Lane and the former JLR Sports Club site. A two-week public consultation runs until June 17, detailing a plan for up to 450 homes, about 25% of which would be affordable. The JLR site would be redeveloped to include rugby league and football pitches, an all-weather bowling green, and a new clubhouse, with the Rugby Football League and its Community Trust partnering on sports infrastructure. JLR closed the club in 2024; Bloor, the largest privately owned housebuilder in the UK, aims to create a neighborhood north of Widnes’ town centre near Junction 7 of the M62. The plan emphasizes grassroots sports provision and community engagement, with residents invited to review the proposals and contribute feedback.
