Checking in on the Yankees' August additions, one month later

One month after the Yankees’ 2026 trade deadline, their August additions are easier to judge. New York made limited noise before the deadline, acquiring Luis García Jr. at first base and Heliot Ramos in the outfield, while rotation and bullpen needs were handled later with the relatively low-cost free-agent signing of Michael Fulmer and a waiver claim for John Schreiber after August 3. The biggest impact so far has come from García. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger, born in breakout form with a .292/.337/.500 line, five homers and a 132 wRC+ in pinstripes, has provided dependable left-handed power. Ramos, however, has struggled at the plate overall with a .141/.286/.266 slash line, 61 wRC+ and -0.5 fWAR, though since August 20 he has produced better results: .227/.370/.455 with a 136 wRC+. The post-deadline call-up George Lombard Jr. debuted with two homers in his first four games and strong defense, but left a game on Tuesday after injuring his knee.
