Daytrip road trips are more than point A to point B
Daytrip, a global travel platform, surpassed 2 million travelers this year, reflecting a shift toward door-to-door, experience-driven journeys. Founded in 2015, the service eliminates typical car rentals and transit transfers by providing English-speaking drivers who can add sightseeing stops along the way. Trips are fully customizable and bookable online, with options drawn from a catalog or client suggestions. The platform now operates in more than 130 countries and relies on a network of over 15,000 drivers, a scale that positions it as a practical alternative for travelers seeking local immersion.
Market research underscores a shift toward experiential travel, with the Going 2026 State of Travel report showing travelers plan to spend more on trips rather than take more trips. Dataintelo projects the experiential segment will grow 7.3% CAGR from 2026 through 2034, led by cultural, culinary and adventure experiences. Daytrip's cofounder and CEO Tomáš Turek framed the milestone as validation of demand for customized itineraries, citing driver Zain Ali Niazi in France, who often tailors routes from Paris to Normandy for history tours and Burgundy wine tastings. In response to feedback, Daytrip introduced an hourly driver rate on June 9, expanding pricing flexibility.
