Derby Club Gives the Former Neary's Space a Touch of Elegance
xCruzo Brief
A closed Midtown East Irish pub, Neary’s—shut two years ago after 57 years—has reopened in a “soft mode” run by restaurateurs Chris Coco and Craig Hutson with chef Ed Cotton. The Derby Club uses vintage touches such as a chandelier from the original Waldorf Astoria, with a polished wood bar and red banquettes. The current menu leans into classics including steak Diane, chicken potpie, clams casino, and rack of lamb with Neary’s mint jelly. Full openings are set for Aug. 19, with bookings limited to two-tops for now.
