FOIA records detail Secret Service failing to detect a golfer's gun at Trump club
xCruzo Brief
New Secret Service records obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request describe how a member of Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, carried a loaded Glock 43 pistol past a security checkpoint while President Donald Trump was on site. The records say the man arrived at about noon on Aug. 31, 2025, was searched and screened, then later realized he had left the handgun in a gym bag, which was searched without the pistol being found. He notified employees and agents reviewed club camera footage, which matched his account. The Protective Intelligence unit reported no protective movements were affected. The searching agent was reportedly placed on administrative leave.
