Game changer' for football club as replacing pitch with artificial grass approved
Three Rivers District Council has approved a £1.3 million overhaul at Oxhey Jets FC’s stadium in Altham Way, South Oxhey, including replacing the natural grass pitch with artificial turf. The approval this week covers new LED floodlights and fencing, along with a wider set of improvements that include a refurbished clubhouse, better access, additional parking and related infrastructure. Club co-founder John Elliot called the project a “massive” win and the “final piece of the jigsaw,” especially after the closure of the Sir James Altham 3G pitch for health and safety reasons. The new surface will help Oxhey Jets serve girls, women, disabled teams and walking football, alongside its Combined Counties Division One side. Work is expected to take around 16 weeks.
