Gene Munster Admits He Got Meta's Stock Rally Wrong - Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META)
Gene Munster says he got Meta’s rally wrong after predicting the stock would trade “flat to down” following Meta Connect. Shares rose 4.5% Thursday, lifting Meta to about $1.72 trillion in market value and making it the world’s seventh most valuable public company, according to Yahoo Finance data. Munster, a managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management, later said he missed the importance of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s message that Muse would become “the centerpiece of Meta.” Munster argues that Zuckerberg’s “wartime CEO mode”—rebuilding toward an “agentic, AI-first business”—could increase the odds of success and support a stock “re-rating.” At the close, META ended at $777.59, up 4.5%, after Meta launched Muse on Sept. 8 with tiers including a $20 and $100 monthly option for heavier use.
