Harry Kane Set to Break Bayern and Bundesliga's Ballon d'Or Drought

Harry Kane is the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or on Monday in London, where the ceremony—held as a one-off in his home city—will break a long drought for Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga. The last Bayern player to win was Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981, and the last Bundesliga winner before Kane was Borussia Dortmund’s Matthias Sammer in 1996. Kane, 33, arrives with 73 goals for club and country last season and 156 goals in 158 games for Bayern, after joining from Tottenham in 2023.
