Heynckes was deeply shaken after death of longtime friend Hermann

Former Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes said he was deeply shaken after the death of his longtime friend Peter Hermann. Heynckes, writing in a guest column for Kicker on Monday evening, said he and his wife Iris “couldn’t hold back their tears” after receiving the news. Hermann, a long-time Bundesliga assistant coach who helped Bayern win the treble in 2013, died at 74 on Saturday after a long fight with ALS, a neurodegenerative illness. Heynckes said he visited Hermann for the last time about three months ago, when Hermann could barely speak.
