Inside Nottinghamshire's 'ultimate destination' with its own nightclub and pool
A Nottinghamshire retreat called The Secret Escape is marketed as an “ultimate destination” featuring private nightlife and a large group setup. The property offers a pool, three hot tubs, and a converted-barn complex that can accommodate up to 26 people, including birthday celebrations and stag dos. Located off a farm track near Sherwood Forest, it appeared on BBC Two’s Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing in 2024, when Bob, Paul and the terrier Ted fished the River Trent for barbel near Wellow, about 12 miles from Newark. The venue includes a soundproof basement nightclub with DJ Tony Blackburn’s presence during filming, plus an 88-inch Smart TV, retro games room, and multiple ensuite bedrooms. Rental costs exceed £15,000 for seven nights, or just over £7,000 for one night for groups.
