Land in U.P., Beaver Island and along Lake Michigan up for auction by DNR
Land in U.P., Beaver Island and along Lake Michigan up for auction by DNR says Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources will hold a “surplus land auction” next month. Twelve auctions run Aug. 4-28, listing parcels across more than two dozen counties in both Michigan peninsulas and on Beaver Island. Sizes range from under one acre up to 120 acres, and DNR said more than 20 properties are 40 acres or larger, concentrated mostly in the Upper Peninsula and the northern Lower Peninsula. The agency owns the land but many parcels are surrounded by private property or have limited legal public access and development options. The surplus auction profits go into the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund, used to purchase replacement properties that protect natural resources and provide public recreation access. A full property list with minimum bids, acreage and maps is available at Michigan.gov/LandForSale.
