LAPD cruiser, SUV heavily damaged in South L.A. crash

Emergency crews responded Friday morning to a crash at a South Los Angeles intersection involving an LAPD cruiser, officials said. An assistance call came in at about 11:11 a.m. for a collision near East Vernon Avenue and Avalon Boulevard in the Historic South-Central neighborhood, according to an LAPD spokesperson who confirmed the incident to KTLA. Citizen.com video showed a heavily damaged police car in the middle of the street and a badly damaged SUV nearby. Authorities did not immediately provide information on injuries or the cause of the crash, and updates were expected as the investigation continued.
