More than 750,000 turn out for Brewers championship parade - [your]NEWS
More than 750,000 fans filled downtown Milwaukee on Friday for the Brewers’ first World Series championship, celebrating with a parade and a rally that brought together players, coaches and franchise icons. Milwaukee police estimated the crowd at over 750,000 and preliminary research suggested it could be the largest for a single-day event in Wisconsin history. Two days earlier, the Brewers completed a five-game World Series sweep over the Tampa Bay Rays, clinching the title with a 4-1 win Wednesday. The procession ended at Henry Maier Festival Park, with thousands more gathering for the post-parade celebration. Hall of Famers Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Rollie Fingers and Ted Simmons joined festivities, while Yount rode onto the stage on a Harley-Davidson that belonged to late broadcaster Bob Uecker. World Series MVP William Contreras thanked fans as the state-wide victory tour continued.
