Non-league sides make history in FA Cup qualifying
Several non-league clubs made history in FA Cup qualifying, with Eighth-tier AFC Rushden & Diamonds set to be included in Monday’s draw for the first round for the first time ever. The Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side, founded in 2011 after the demise of Rushden & Diamonds, reached the first round proper by winning five matches, including a 2-1 upset over National League North club Morecambe. Another standout was seventh-tier Berkhamsted, who came from behind to beat Southend 2-1 at Roots Hall. Tadley Calleva, also in the ninth tier, forced a replay after twice equalizing National League outfit Aldershot. Prize money for Saturday’s winners totaled £9,375, with first-round ties scheduled around Nov. 7 and the draw set for 18:35 BST on Monday Oct. 19 on TNT Sports.
