Pathetic': Critics Drown Trump's Latest Renaming Idea In Ridicule

Critics quickly mocked President Donald Trump’s latest proposal to rename major U.S.-linked bodies of water. Speaking at a campaign rally in Tennessee on Saturday, Trump suggested rechristening either the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean, framing it as adding more names to the map after “the Gulf” and a “beautiful lake.” He floated labels such as “Trump Ocean” or “Ocean of the Americas.” Trump has previously used executive orders to seek “Gulf of America” for the Gulf of Mexico and “Lake America” for Lake Ontario, though those orders can’t compel other countries. He also discussed renaming New Mexico as “New America.” New Hampshire Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office questioned his priorities, noting gas neared $5 a gallon.
